Funny, perceptive and truly inspirational, comedian Kathy Westfield finds humor in places where others would not dream of looking. Formerly a flight attendant for a major airline, Kathy’s comedy career took off when she arrived home to Los Angeles one morning after working a long flight from Sydney, Australia. Although she was exhausted from her trip, once she was home Kathy had a case of insomnia. As she tried to rest and relax while watching a talk show, a guest began talking about teaching a stand-up comedy class. Kathy wrote the number down, enrolled in the class and the rest is history.
Kathy performs at comedy clubs, churches, colleges, non-profit and corporate organizations across the country. Her television television credits include performances on BET’s Comic View, The Trinity Broadcast Network (TBN), Good Morning America, Centric TV, ABC World News Tonight, The Apollo and she was a $10,000 Grand Prize Winner on America’s Funniest People. Kathy was also featured in the film Dreams, was recently featured at the NAACP Image Awards, was voted the Industry Judges First Prize Winner at the Flapper’s Comedy Club Competition in Burbank, and was the winner of the Los Angeles Comedy Awards’ Funniest Clean Comedian. She has also earned a Master of Arts degree in Theology and Ministry with an emphasis in Worship, Theology and the Arts from Fuller Theological Seminary.
As far back as she can remember, Kathy has always loved to make people laugh and has used laughter to get through some difficult times. Her stand-up routine reflects the funny side of life’s struggles as she creatively combines humor with subtle inspiration. Kathy truly believes that laughter is God’s alternative to self-medication.
